2006 - Naata was a village without a proper school and the locals were keen to help us providing one. By the time we arrived in January, the building had been completed, with the help of funding from the Trust. We were able to go ahead with decorating, delivery of equipment and provision of resources. Before we left, the first lessons had taken place.

In 2006, volunteer teachers from the UK spent seven weeks teaching at the school.

A sewing class for adult learners has been established to encourage “cottage industry”.

A teacher from the UK has been teaching at Naata for the past few months. Each day she takes group of six children to assist in basic skills learning – writing and maths. For her lessons, the children are taught outdoors, under the shade of a mango tree (see photo)

With project sponsorship from Yorkshire Building Society, a major refurbishment of the school precincts has now been completed. A new storeroom for school equipment (including football strip, proudly worn by the school team) has been completed, as has a wall, providing security. The school grounds have been made safe – previously litter debris and dangerous detritus made them an unsuitable place for play; now the children can be there in safety.
